That may sound less exciting, but it does mean that bacteria and dirt can quickly cause irritation or infection. This is especially true when swimming in <strong>pools, lakes or the sea<\/strong>. Swimming pools often contain chlorine that can dry out the skin and delay healing. Lakes and rivers contain many bacteria, and salt water in the sea can also dry out or cause minor irritations. Earlobes usually heal faster, but cartilage piercings like helix or tragus take a little longer. Lips, tongue and navel piercings also have their own healing time. Our advice? Always take the safe bet and give your piercing plenty of time to recover. For some piercings, this can even take up to nine months. During that initial period, swimming is not a good idea. This way you give your body time to form a solid protective layer and you reduce the risk of irritation or infection.       <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To give you a clear overview:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Earlobes:<\/strong> 6 to 9 weeks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Industrial \/ ear cartilage:<\/strong> 3 to 12 months, depending on the spot<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nose piercing:<\/strong> 3 to 6 months<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tepelpiercing:<\/strong> 6 tot 9 maanden<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Navel piercing:<\/strong> 6 to 9 months<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lips \/ tongue \/ oral piercings:<\/strong> 4 to 9 weeks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:16px\">These are average healing times and <strong>the original jewelry should always remain in<\/strong> during this period.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At INKORPORATED, we make sure that you are never left out in the cold.
