BASIC TATTOO COURSE AMSTERDAM

At INKORPORATED, quality and safety come first. Our tattoo course trains aspiring artists so they can start their careers with confidence. Once you finish the course, we even offer the chance to get hands-on experience as an intern, with the possibility to move up to a junior tattoo artist in one of our studios. Because we focus on real skills, we don’t offer short courses – only full, in-depth 6-week programs.

This course is for artists who already have solid drawing skills. Also, the course is taught in English, so you’ll need to be comfortable with the language.

Our course runs for 6 weeks

• Week 1: Introduction & history of tattoos and mental health hygiene.
• Week 2: Disinfection, sterilization, cross-contamination and setting up your workstation.
• Week 3: Tattoo styles & history, drawing skills and stencil making.
• Week 4: Skin anatomy, black ink composition and needling techniques.
• Week 5: Safety precautions against contamination and tattooing on fake skin.
• Week 6: Tattooing on real skin! Bring your own model & show off your skills in practice.

Requirements for course participation:

• Demonstrable drawing skills.
• Proficiency in the English language.
• MBO-level thinking and working.

Below is a more detailed explanation of INKORPORATED’s basic tattooing course. Please note that this is not a full tattoo course that will allow you to start working as an artist immediately, but a solid foundation for further development in the profession.

The course is more than just learning how to tattoo. We focus not only on the technical side, but also on the client experience. We teach you how to create a safe, clean workplace as well as how to make your clients feel welcome and at ease. Our experienced instructors will guide you step by step, whether you’re just starting out or want to develop your skills further. This is not just another course, but a solid foundation for your future as a tattoo artist!

In Week 2, we will work on key hygiene practices and how to set up your workplace:

• You will learn all about disinfection, sterilization and preventing cross contamination.
• How to properly set up your tattoo station according to GGD guidelines.

At the end of the week, you will feel completely ready to work safely and professionally, with hygiene and care as top priorities.

This week we will dive into the world of tattoo styles and work on your artistic skills:

• Explore different tattoo styles and their history.
• Improve your drawing skills and learn to create designs perfect for tattoos.
• Learn all about applying stencils and how to prepare your designs for coloring.

By the end of this week, you will have further developed your artistic eye and laid a strong foundation for designs that your future clients are sure to love!

This week we focus on the technical side of tattooing:

• Understanding skin structure and how it affects tattoo placement.
• Discovering the composition of black ink and how it affects the final result.
• Learning different needling techniques and how to use them effectively for various styles.

This knowledge is essential for tattooing with precision and confidence so that your designs are always safely set and sharp!

This week is all about safety and testing your skills:

• Learn how to protect yourself from blood-borne diseases and create a safe work environment.
• Put your skills into practice on fake skin so you can practice the techniques before working on real skin.

At the end of the week, you will be all set to confidently take on the challenge of tattooing on real skin!

The moment you’ve been waiting for – time to put everything into practice:

• Tattooing on real skin! Bring your own model and apply all the skills you’ve learned to create your very first real tattoos.
• You will receive personal guidance and feedback to improve your technique and boost your confidence.
